If motion controls were the end of the world...

You'd be Woody Harrelson in 2012.

LOL @ ripten statement as a source.

So what if LA is included in NA? Why should anyone give a f--k? A unit sold is a unit sold. If they haven't, MS better target the LA market. If anything, this is a positive for Sony.

The 15% increase isn't unexpected. They have more room for growth. I wouldn't even count it as noteworthy. ...

What's the significance of Microsoft's prepaid card outselling anything?

5694d ago 10 agree2 disagreeView comment

Use common sense dude.

If the RROD was anywhere near 30% - some estimates nearly double that - and if a nominal percentage bought another 360. That would mean 360 sales could be overstated by as much as 10% - 15%. But who cares it is still selling well.

If the Move has just been out for two months and has sold 4 million. Not being so stupid to think a large number is buying four Move controller, I would venture anywhere between 15% and 20% bought an extra ...

Exactly how I see it with this one caveat - Move is more the complete package, camera and controller.

Wii is just a controller. Kinect is just the camera. Move is BOTH!!!

Hopefully, Kinect will continue the improvements in motion control by simply adding a controller.

To be viable, I believe Kinect has to bring it for the core. People think that Nintendo Wii is successful just because of the casuals. It is the core gamer who made the Wii successful - folk interested in Nintendo first party - although they were pretty much ignored for the casual audience.

If you look at Kinect now, I bet it is mostly core gamers buying it. Not necessarily housewives buying it for themselves. I can definitely see it being dropped by core gamer for lack o...

Actually $500 million in advertising is paid for once Kinect hits 5 million. They cost to make the system is only $50, a very nice margin - funny they didn't sell it for less.

Of course I'm neglecting the R&D and acquisitions, etc. Still I wouldn't say more than 7-10 million. And that $500 is the budget for now through 2011. A lot of money, too much money...but certainly recoup-able.

If Sony had predicted massive sales for Move on the onstart, yeah I would be suspicious.

But they didn't. They predicted slow sales. Now those same numbers would definitely be a disappointment for Kinect, because it was lauded as the biggest thing going. People are a too desperate to call Move a failure.

And I'm afraid Pachter is too close to the gaming 'press' to be taken that seriously.

Are future games coming...why yes they are!! Question answered...now move on! The quicker N4G gets over the 'motion control war' the better.

And the 'unique user' BS is just that! BS! We can say the same thing in spades for the 360 - bannings and RROD. Please don't open that can of worms.

Exactly why a fanboy war between the two is meaningless and stupid.

Is it selling enough to ensure developer support and future game releases? Yes...so move on.

Just one Kinect would do, but you should have more than one Move controller - so I'm told because I only have one at the moment. Instead of making it seem Move has fewer than it has, it only shows how insipid this motion control sales war is. We have BS sites like VGChartz and Pachter at the 'battlefront'.

Both peripherals are doing quite well, as are both consoles. It is interesting that you mention that 'unique users' for consoles. With RROD and weap...

This is like news from the middle of September.

Pachter says below expectations, but whose...? Not Sony's because they anticipated a slow start for Move back in the Summer - relying on word of mouth.

Four million worldwide - which all information points as a likely number of where it stands now - is not bad for a peripheral on the market for two months.

Lower than expected US sales maybe, but WELL below ...no. Sony says it is above thei...

Yes relatively speaking, but it is not about EDD it is about Windows and Office. Those actually make $500 marketing campaigns possible.

The 360 may not survive a break-up.

2012...the 360 falls to third place. Europe will ensure success and sales of the PS3, and as the bigger growth market will help PS3 dominate. Latin America will likely follow suit.

Kinect will only keep 360 in second place for 2011.

5695d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

67% is two thirds. So for every three Moves, MS sells five Kinects.

I think he is right about Kinect, not about Move. I think Move is at 1.5 million right now for the US and will more than double that come Dec. 31. So 3 million for the US. More than double than worldwide...so 6 million.

I don't think Kinect will pass Move's headstart until late December. And I think both will sell more.

Now if there are ever any good games for Kinect. Sony will get those too.

Really I expected this. Kinect is missing a controller, and the Move would have been a great controller for Kinect.

I never said that Sony didn't need to step their game up. But the fact that Sony's Move is knocking on the door of 5 million already shows they aren't piddling around.

The worst problem with Sony's marketing is the ad company they use. Fortunately they had to use another company in the past year - that's why we have KB. Sony has had commercials, just no good ones until KB.

Still the successfully compete against Kinect despite a disadv...

More than Kinect, this can be a game changer for Sony. I don't know Microsoft's position in emerging markets like Argentina, Brazil and India, but this could a REAL game changer.

They already have Move commercials for Latin America.

5696d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Microsoft has tremendous amounts of money to spend on growth (ads and R&D) because it has so little overhead in making software - it is mostly profit.

But if you look at how much they bring in compared to what they spend in marketing, you'd feel different about Sony. Yes, they need to step it up, but they get more bang for their bucks than Microsoft(money which Sony actually has to spend money to make its products - something Microsoft is just barely learning how to ...

Move is likely still ahead thanks to Europe, and may be closer to 5 million already than we realize, but it won't sell as strong as Kinect during Christmas.

Heavy Rain and Move is excellent - it is probably more intuitive than you are thinking.

Edit:

I had problems getting a response, like when swordfighting with Jason and the other boy. Then I said, just do what is natural, and it was simple as that.
